South Jakarta Strengthens Efforts to Boost Regional Tax Revenue

South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo chaired a coordination meeting at the South Jakarta Mayor's Office to discuss efforts to increase regional tax revenue in 2026.

We remain optimistic about achieving this year's target as well

Syafrin said boosting regional tax revenue is a shared responsibility. One of the strategies being pursued is strengthening coordination with stakeholders, while also intensifying public outreach and mobile service.

"Through these efforts, we want potential taxpayers to better understand and take advantage of the incentives currently being offered by the Governor," he said on Monday (6/15).

Syafrin explained that of the Rp16.6 trillion tax revenue target set for South Jakarta this year, only Rp7.1 trillion, or around 43.13 percent, has been realized so far. The figure remains about 6.9 percentage points short of the 50 percent target set for the first half of the year.

He praised the South Jakarta officials for exceeding last year's regional tax collection target, reaching 107 percent of the goal.

"We remain optimistic about achieving this year's target as well. In turn, tax revenue can be returned to the public through development projects and community programs in Jakarta that meet residents' expectations," he added.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Revenue Agency Sub-office Head Hendarto said one of the key measures being taken to meet the target is involving the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics (Kominfotik) Sub-agency.

He noted that strengthening digital outreach, including the consistent reposting of content on social media, is essential to remind residents and taxpayers of their tax obligations.

"The leadership has emphasized the need for massive outreach at all levels, from the city administration to neighborhood units (RT), to help optimize tax collection," he said.

Hendarto said enforcement measures against delinquent taxpayers will continue in accordance with prevailing regulations. These measures include placing warning stickers on properties, deploying bailiffs, freezing bank accounts, and, when necessary, seizing and auctioning assets.

"With solid cooperation among all stakeholders, we are optimistic that tax revenue for regional development in Jakarta will continue to improve," he stressed.

Currently, taxpayers paying Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2) and Motor Vehicle Tax can take advantage of several incentive programs. Payments made in April and May were eligible for a 10 percent reduction, while those made between June and July qualify for a 7.5 percent reduction. Payments made from August through September will receive a 5 percent reduction.

For outstanding PBB-P2 obligations from 2021 to 2025, taxpayers are eligible for a 5 percent reduction in principal and a full waiver of administrative penalties.

Motor vehicle taxpayers are also entitled to a waiver of administrative penalties for late payments from June through August 31, 2026.
